Ringa Rangahau Research Symposium 2025

Tēnā koutou e ngā ringa rangahau, ngā kai rangahau o Ngāti Kahungunu, o te rohe rānei, tēnā tātau katoa. Nau mai, haere mai - join us for the Ringa Rangahau Research Symposium 2025! This is our third symposium celebrating Māori research and researchers from Te Matau-a-Māui | Hawke’s Bay, across the motu, and abroad. While we focus on strengthening Māori research capacity and capability in our rohe, we warmly welcome attendees interested in kaupapa Māori research and collaborative partnerships across Aotearoa and beyond.

Auaka Tumutumu Symposium

The Auaka Tumutumu Symposium, held in August 2023, was a significant follow-up to the Mārama Project’s inaugural symposium in 2021. This four-day event focused on advancing the understanding and practices surrounding the preservation of Māori taonga (treasures), particularly within the archives of Ngāti Kahungunu.

Mārama Symposium

The Mārama: Manuscripts with Memory Symposium, held in 2021, marked the beginning of the Mārama Project’s efforts to bring together experts, archivists, and whānau to explore the rich histories contained within Māori manuscript collections.

Ngāti Kahungunu Marae Wānanga

On 20th November 2024, whānau, hapū, iwi, and professionals from the cultural and heritage sectors came together for a wānanga focused on resilience, recovery, and preparation following Cyclone Gabrielle.

Te Pūranga: Preserving Taonga

In June 2024, our research centre proudly supported the Te Pūranga wānanga workshops, hosted at the EIT Marae in collaboration with Vicki-Anne Heikell and her team from the Alexander Turnbull Library, alongside other key cultural and heritage agencies.
